his chest but they couldn’t find anything wrong.

“ They gave me some medicine and my hiccups slowed down, but it was another

week before the medicine worked completely and my hoccups stopped.”

Dear Mum and Dad,

How are you? It’s after lunch. I’m writing to you from my camp.

Yesterday we left school at 8:00 am. The camp is only 200 miles from our home, and the

school bus got us here at noon.

I share a room with three boys. Two of them know how to use computers. They’re in Mr

Green’s class. I’m learning how to use computers, so I am in Mrs Brown’s class. I have to design

my own program this week. All of the campers have to. I want to design a game. Then I can teach

it to you.

We must take part in two other activities every day. I am going to choose swimming and

tennis. In my free time, I am going to play games on the computers. So are most of the campers. I

like camping, but I don’t like the food. It’s very bad. We have our breakfast, lunch and supper in a

very big room. When we are eating, everyone is talking and there’s a lot of noise. I have to say

“goodbye” now. See you in two weeks.

Children are amazing language learners! They’re able to pick up new languages quickly and easily, without any accent (口音). Adults, on the other hand, have to study hard to learn another language, and even then, they usually never lose their native (本族语的) accents. Why? What makes children different? One explanation (解释) has to do with the muscles (肌肉) that control the movement in our mouths. In our mouths, there are hundreds of muscles that control the movements of our tongue, lips, cheeks, and so on. In children ,their muscles are still flexible (灵活的),so it’s easier for them to move their mouths into new positions (位置) to make new sounds. In adults, the muscles are less flexible, so it’s more difficult for them to make sounds that aren’t in their native language.

Another explanation has to do with our brains. There are two sides to our brains- the left side and the right side. In adults, each side of our brain helps us to do different things. For example, the left side of our brain helps us to think through problems step by step, while the right side helps us to remember things we see, hear, and feel. In children, however, the brain isn’t yet divided (在两者间划分界线) into a left and a right side. Some researchers believe that this helps children to be more flexible language learners. In other words, their brains are more open to differences in a new language.

61.According to the passage above, children learn languages than adults.

A、more easily B、less easily C、more correctly D、much more slowly 62.The muscles in children’s mouths are .This allows them to make new sounds easily.

A、long B、flexible C、different D、young 63.There are two sides to an adult brain, and each side helps to .

A、become flexible language learners B、think through problems C、make decisions D、do different things 64.Child’s brain iA、divided into a left and a right side B、not yet divided into a left and a right side C、going to develop into a left-sided brain D、going to develop into a right-sided brain 65.Which one of the following statements i.

A、It is hard for an adult to study a new language while not losing his native accent. B、Children can learn a language more easily because their brains develop very fast. C、Children can become flexible language learners when they grow up. D、Adult’s brains are more open to different languages.

Now I have taken over ten years at school. As a child, I regarded the school a beautiful garden. I went to school happily and excited with a small bag. Time flew fast. Now I’m studying at a senior middle school. Every day morning, on my way to school, the rising sun greets me with a smile. At class I enjoy putting my heart into listening to the teachers. In evening, I do exercises, like a farmer working hardly, expecting a good harvest. During breaks between class, I often go out for rest. How happy the life is!I’m sure I will never forget the wonderful time at school.
