o sound, a cold wind blew out the candles. The second day, Mr Lockwood, came to thrush farmstead, to the housekeeper Alan dean asked about it, the housekeeper did happen in wuthering heights of things. Wuthering heights have 30 years of history, the host before the old Mr. Shaw from street to pick up a gypsy outcast, to accept him as the adopted son, this is heathcliff. Heathcliff a to the old Europe by the son of Mr. Shaw hendler ray (namely XinDeLei) bullying and abuse (actually is heathcliff relying on first earnshaw's favor bullying XinDeLei, to the point XinDeLei angered), can XinDeLei sister but Catherine and heathcliff crazy in love (but were offered no heart). Old master died after, married hendler ray became wuthering heights master. He began to stop heathcliff and Catherine relationship, and to get to the field heathcliff, to work, continue to shame, and tortured him, he became unreasonable, almost dementia, Catherine also become untamed. Once, they had to thrush farmstead to play, Catherine bitten by a dog, master linton couple knew she was the shaw's child, to leave her enthusiasm injured. The heathcliff as bad boy away. Catherine and lyndon son Edgar, daughter isabelle became good friends. Catherine live for five long weeks after come back, into a soft-spoken, bearing ten thousand party rich girl. When he again see heathcliff, lest he soiled his clothes. Heathcliff self-esteem hurt, he said: "I would like to how dirty, how dirty."

He vowed to hendler ray of revenge, and his heart and all the wild jealousy on hendler ray. In June 1778, hendler ray's wife gave birth to harry's Europe after shaw · from lung disease die, hendler ray took a great blow, and become more cruel, more ruthless. Wandering in the Catherine heathcliff and Edgar love between, she really love heathcliff, but feel and a servant married, loss of dignity. When Edgar asked her to marry him, thought of his beautiful and rich, he promised. But in her heart, very clear he was wrong, and to the maid Alan dean reveal the truth: "I love to Edgar like leaves in the trees, when winter change, then the trees will change. I leaves to heathcliff but love is like underground permanent rock... I love is heathcliff! He retaliated all night and all night and hendler ray play CARDS, drink, slowly made him gone bankrupt, finally put the whole estate guaranty to heathcliff. Although Kathleen try their best to trying to save heathcliff feelings, but he still and Isabella married, married to abuse to let off their hatred Isabella. Katherine at birth, and heathcliff while Edgar not at, into the thrush farmstead, his struggle to hold Catherine, grievous to call way: "ah, Cathy, ah, my life! How can I stand wow!......" Catherine to say: "if I do wrong, I'll die so, you leave me, but I forgive you, you also forgive me!" Heathcliff replied: "it is difficult to do, but I forgive you for the things I do. I can love hurt me, but hurt you, and I forgive him? How can?" They're crazy to hug, don't know is love each other or resentment. Until Edgar coming back, they just separate, Catherine did not wake up. In the night, she a coma gave birth to a girl died. Heathcliff keep all night in the garden when that Kathleen died, he blew and hit his head against the tree trunk, "day! Not my bag, I can't go on!" A few months after hendler lay dead, heathcliff became wuthering heights master. He put the hendler ray's son harry's training into a rude, no culture of the wild boy. Isabella can't stand her husband's abuse, fled to near London, where gave birth to a son named lyndon.

Twelve years later linton has grown into a young, but in those who were sick, Catherine little daughter also has grown into a beautiful girl, heathcliff is don't like linton, he is the father of Catherine while small dying occasion, small Catherine received wuthering heights, and persecute her and lyndon married because he wanted "to see the offspring of my victory as a magnificent their estate, my child labor master hire their children to kind of their land". A few months later, Edgar also died, heathcliff as small Catherine's father moved into the thrush farmstead. Soon linton also died, small Catherine became a young widow.

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte's only novel.and was first published in 1847 .It is not narrated by the author directly but firstly narrated by Ellen (Nelly) Dean who is the housekeeper of Wuthering Heights. The main characters of this novel are Heathcliff and Catherine.Except them, there are also several secondary characters such as Hindly Earnshaw、Edgar Linton 、Isabella Linton 、Catherine Linton and Hereton Earnshaw .

This novel mainly narrated the love between Healthcliff and Catherine, the hatred between Healthcliff and Hindly. Heathcliff was adopted by Catherine's father Mr Earnshaw when he was a child, during their childhood.Hindly, who is Catherine's brother, always asked Heathcliff to do many hard works ,laughed at him , teased him and kooked down upon him. While his sister Catherine loves Heathcliff ,they had a secret"palace"on the hill.Unfortunately, when they all grew up ,Catherine met Linton, who was the lord of Thrushcross Gange,he was not only very handsome but also very gentle and most importantly,he loved Catherine ,too.Facing the preventing of his brother and considering Healthcliff's condiction,Catherine choose to marry Linton. In fact, she wanted to marry Heathcilff. It maked Healthcliff decide to go to another

place to make money and then come back to revenge everybody who have ever prevent he marry Catherine.Several years later,he came back,in order to revenge Linton,he married Linton's sister Isabella and tormented her everyday. One day he was informed that Catherine would die,he went to see her,she has born a little girl but she died.Healthcliff was extremely sad.It added his hatred towards Linton and Hindly. After both of them died,Heathcliff adopted their daughter Little Catherine and Hereton .He treated Hereton in the same way of Hindy had ever used and forced Catherine married his own ill son.He became the owner of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange and inherited the property of both of them .Soon, his son died ,and Catherine became a young widow.little Catherine and Hereton loves each other, but Heathcliff did not allow them become couple. But when he saw little Catherine's eyes,he thought Catherine, at last,he allowed them marry.

I get two kinds of ideas of this novel after I read it.One is about the choice of Catherine. She loves Heathcliff but she chose another man.In fact,we have to face many choices during our lives. In most cases,it is difficult and impossible for us to make a perfect choice in that when we chose this one we have to quit others. There is no choice in the world always being right or wrong,we often make a choice according to our needs or interests. While ,sometimes,we have to make choices based on others attitudes,it is because that we dare not to be criticized by the public

or do not want to bear the responsibility of the choice we chose. What should we do when we have to make a choice? In my opinion,we should make a choice that we will not regret later and we mostly want to chose. The second idea is about hatred of Heathcliff..Most of his life were spent revenging others,in fact he was not happy at all, although he succeeded in revenging the persons he hated,he got nothing at all at last, except hatred. When we are hurt by someone, what we should do is not to think of some ways to revenge them but to ignore their faults and concentrate on more important things.A person who just knows hatred will never feel happy and will lose his or her own aim of life.

After reading the masterpiece, Wuthering Heights, gave me a kind of depression and made me unable to understand what is love on earth. Everyone who read it would be touched and moved.

Mr, Earnshaw who was the owner of the Wuthering Height fostered an orphan Heathcliff, but Mr, Earnshaw had a son who did not like Heathcliff. It indicated that he was selfish and refused to get less advantage than Healthcliff. On the countary, his sister Catherine began to love Healthcliff, what was worse, hindly didn’t want his sister to stay together with Heathcliff.Especially after Mr, Earnshaw died hindly became the owner of the Wuthering Heights and treated Healthcliff as nonhuman treatment.

Once an accident occurred in Thrushcross Grange. Catherine had live there for five weeks at length. From then on he became a gentle woman and had a certain prejudice on healthcliff. She thought he was either poor or uneducated man.Healthcliff would not be able to be suited to her position. The thought of discrimination brought serious shock on heathcliff and he lost his self-confidence became a rich gentleman. He occupied Wuthering Heights by using sneaky tactics. Catherine married Edgar Linton. Heathcliff’s destructive force was unleashed, and

his first victim was little Catherine, Catherine’s daughter. Isabelle Linton, Edgar’ sister, who he had married. Their son Linton and Catherine were married, but Linton died. Hareton, Hindley’s son, and the young widow became close. Heathcliff became increasingly isolated and alienated from daily life, and he longs for the death that will reunify him with Catherine.

According to his novel we can get conclusion that the hero was described as narrow-minded person who had a little heart abnormality. But he had a good aspect, since he had spent ten years in changing his life. It shows that he is aggressive man. However, the heroine is a gold digger. In other to seek money power and position she gave up the true love. In material desires dominate society. Money is everything. There are no love friendship and relationship between people.

This novel also reflected that what kind of social background the author suffered. With the development of the economy in capital society it is important behaviors that have stood the test of the temptation.

Brief Introduction Wuthering Heights

The book I read is named Wuthering Heights, whose author is an English famous writer, Emily Bronte. It was published by Air Factory Press in 2004. The book has 207 pages.

Main Contents

The story is about Heathcliff's revenge. In the north part of England, there lied Wuthering Heights. Its host, Earnshaw adopted a orphan named Heathcliff . Earnshaw let him live with Hindley and Cathy. Soon Cathy lost her heart to him while Hindley hated him very much. After the old Earnshaw died, Hindley became the host of Wuthering Heights. Cathy married rich and handsome Edgar. After Heathcliff knew about the news, he left angrily.

Several years later, a handsome man with fine clothes appeared in Thushcross Grange. It was Heathcliff. His only aim was to take revenge. Hindley began into drink every day. When Hindley saw Heathcliff came back, he let him live there. Heathcliff took advantages of his bad habits to rob his wealth. Healthcliff tempted Edgar’s sister to marry him, but he was unkind to her. Soon she left him and bore a boy named Linton. Cathy produced little Cathy, dead. After Isabella was dead, Little Linton came to his father’s house. Heathcliff forced little Linton and little Cathy to get married. Soon little Linton was dead. Hareton Earnshaw and little Cathy loved each other. In the end Heathcliff died. The two people who loved each other got marriage. They came back to Thrushcross Grange and had a happy life. The story ended. Excellent episodes

1.Fog hung in the trees, and in the distance, large sharp, tall rocks called Penistone Crags rose up out of the ground.

2.We stared at them for a little while, and then made noises to frighten them, like ghosts.

3.She started out of the window, her eyes shining with happiness. There was no moon,

and everything outside was dark and quite.

4.He eyes didn’t shine and she didn’t laugh or take as she used to. Instead, she was quiet, and her eyes were soft. (P104)

5.Cathy’s face was like the land around her, with shadows and sunshine moving over it quickly. (P162)

6.The sweet young girl whom Ellen had known was gone. Cathy had turned angry and hard, like the girl Lockwood met. She was not afraid of Heathcliff and she fought with him and Hareton. The more she was hurt, the angrier and more hurtful to others. She became. She lived in a world of bad feelings. (P180)

7.A beautiful moon was shining in the sky. As I opened the gate and walked towards the door, the sweet smell of flowers was in the air. (P186)

8.A voice is as sweet as a bird’s.

9.Then was quiet, and seemed to forget that Ellen was there. She left him alone. She knew so much about him. She knew that Heathcliff’s sorrow and unlucky life, and his deep love for Catherine Earnshaw, had made his life a hell.

Reflection

When I read over the story, I feel happy. Heathcliff gave up hatred at last. I feel sorry for Healthcliff’s deeds. Catherine represents wild nature, lively spirits and her occasional cruelty. She loves Heathcliff so intensely that she claims they are the same person. However, her actions are driven in part by her social ambitions, which initially are awakened during her first stay at the Linton’s, and which eventually compel her to marry Edgar.Catherine is free— spirited, beautiful, spoiled, and often arrogant, she is given to fits of temper, and she is torn by herself and both of the men who love her.The location of her coffin symbolizes the conflict that tears apart her short life. She is buried in a corner of the Kirkyard. In contrast to Catherine,Isabella Linton—Catherine’s sister—in—law represents culture and civilization, both in her refinement and in her weakness.Ultimately, she ruins her life by falling in love with Heathcliff. He never returns her feelings and treats her as a tool in his quest for revenge on the Linton family.

Just as Isabella Linton serves as Catherine’s foil, Edgar Linton serves as Heathcliff’s. Edgar grows into a tender, constant, but cowardly man. He is almost the ideal gentleman. However, this full assortment of gentlemanly characteristics, along with his civilized virtues, proves useless in Edgar’s clashes with his foil. He sees his wife obviously in love with another man but unable to do anything to rectify the situation.

The whole story make people’s mood heavy. Fortunately, the end is happy. And when I think of his sadness and insult from others, I can show sympathy to him. Heathcliff lived a tired life. He should have a good life. He got married Isabella and had a son. If he was good to her and his son,he would have a happy family. He made use of many people to take revenge to ruin the lives of these people’s. At last he died. So we should have a wide heart. We should not live in hatred. Happiness is the most things in our lives.

Although Heathcliff did many bad things, he gave up forcing Cathy and Harleton to separate. People always think many deep loves are changed in to hatred but I believe in it that the world is still full of love.

I have read Wuthering Heights for three times and each time when I read it ,I got something new .The novel deals mainly with the story of Heathcliff ,an orphan picked up by Mr .Earnshaw and brought up with his children .Heathcliff is treated well by Earnshaw ,but when the old man dies ,the young master Hindley bullies and insults him .In those days when Heathcliff and Catherine unite to revolt Hindley ,Heathcliff falls passionately in love with Cathy .Cathy loves him but thinks it would degrade her to marry him .Heathcliff overhears what Cathy says to Nelly and leaves Wuthering Heights sadly .Three years later he returns to find Cathy has been married Edgar Linton ,a rich man .He lives again in wuthering Heights and seeks his revenge .

A large number of articles say the novel can be divided into three parts and the second parts is about “Catherine betrayed heathcliff and married Edgar Linton as a result of her vanity ,ignorant and blindness .”Even though ,the result came Cathy marrid Edgar ,from my point of view ,she did not betray Heathcliff .

The environment decided Cathy not a traditional women at that time .A kind of fiery emotions in Cathy’s heart and it can not be covered .When Edgar Linton asked Catherine to marry him ,she gave him an answer at once .Apparently ,Cathy thought about this kind of questions not for the first time .She clearly knew a miss of Wuthering Heights should marry a man with whom it will be well matched in social and economic status .Cathy came Nelly to pour out her restless about the marriage .Nelly ,the only one she could turn to. Nelly asked wha she was unhappy about since the marriage can pleased her brother and escape from a disorderly comfortless home into a weathy ,respectable one .As Cathy put one hand on her breast ,she said the heart where the soul lives convinced her wrong .Cathy fairy know her love for Heathcliff ,as she addressed to Nelly ,”…and that ,not because he is handsome ,Nelly ,but because he is more myself than I am .Whatever our souls are made of ,his and mine are the same ;and Linton’s is as different as a moonbean from lightning ,or frost from fire…” Marriage is not to betray Heathcliff .If Cathy can not express her love for Heathcliff through the way of marrying him ,there must be reasons .

As the old Chinese saying goes ,To a destitude couple ,nothing goes well .Cathy ,a girl of twentytwo seemed already understand this viewpoint .The evidence is what she said to Nelly ,”Nelly ,I see now ,you think me a selfish wretch ;but did it never strike you that if Heathcliff and I married ,we should be beggers ?Whereas ,if I marry Linton ,I can aid Heathcliff to rise ,and place him out of my brother's power ."These words from the deepest heart of her heart is not money worship but rational .Maybe it seems like Cathy's excuse to absolve herself from restless of the marriage .I do believe it is brutal to break up the deeply lover and I do believe it is hard to accept the almgiving from a woman .But the results exceeded Cathy's expectationaas for Heathcliff disappeared .Heathcliff could not understand Cathy's deep love and also himself was not being understood .

Restless though Cathy fell ,the answe

r is given to Edgar .Heathcliff leaves and Cathy's heath go from bad to worsebecause of missing Heathcliff .Also ,from Emily's exquisite depiction about Cathy's serious and painful miss of Heathcliff ,I firmly belived Cathy's faith .

If Cathy is given another chance ,she would not let Heathcliff go .But whatever Cathy choose ,she would never betray her love

and heathcliff .

A story of Love and Revenge

------The Impression of Wuthering Heights Wuthering Height, which was written by Emily Bronte’s, was published in 1847. The reason I chose this book is because the title attracted me.

The book was mainly about the love story between Catherine and Heathcliff. After reading the book, I thought a lot. As an orphan, Heathcliff started his life miserably. After being adopted by homeless Earnshaw his life changed. Soon after, he fell in love with Catherine. They would have led a happy life if Heathcliff were not looked down upon by Catherine’s brother. Fortunately, both Heathcliff and Catherine found their own love in the end.

However, there is still something I cannot fully understand. Many people in the world are trying to find a perfect companion. Some of them get married but don’t know what their new wife or husband is like. This kind of situation often leads to separation or hostility, just like Heathcliff and his wife, Esabella. When Esabella married Heathcliff, she didn’t really know Heathcliff, and after she married him she found that Heathcliff was not a gentle man at all. Another example of this is that Catherine married Edgar Linton. Although she had been happy at the beginning of the marriage because she thought having parties all the time was going to be fun, after a while, she became bored. She also realized

that she loved Heathcliff more than Edgar Linton, but at that time, it was no use to regret at all. Because of this, she lived a miserable life and died after she gave birth to her little baby. From these tragedies, we know how important it is to choose the right soul mate from a right attitude towards marriage.

After reading this story, I was touched by several parts. The first is about LOVE. There are two kinds of love in this story -- Pure and Selfish. Pure love can bring happiness to us, but selfish love can ruin a person. The second is about HATE. I deeply feel that hate is a horrible thing. Hate makes the world dark. Hate makes people forget the happy and beautiful things around them. If it can’t be dealt with well, it would influence the next generation. The last is the attitude towards things. Different attitudes produce different results. We can learn that from the different ending of Catherine and. We can see how important a positive attitude is.

Love is everlasting, but hatred is not. What we should do is insist onpure love and don’t let the hatred blind our eyes.

Other situations may develop between two friends that stem from jealousy, desire for revenge, uncaring parents, etc. Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights displays several characteristics of destructive relationships. Three of these are uncaring parents, marriage without knowing the person, and jealousy. Uncaring or unsympathizing parents are shown throughout this story to be an element of destructive relationships. Because Heathcliff gained all the attention from Mr. Earnshaw, Hindley became disassociated from his father. This separation continued until after Mr. Earnshaw had died.Another example is between Hindley and Hareton. Hindley became such a drunk and a gambler that he could not properly care for young Hareton. This led to a separation between Hareton and his father as well. One primary example of an uncaring parent is shown between Heathcliff and his son Linton.Heathcliff did not even want his son for anything except enacting a part of his revenge. This is shown by Linton's fear of Heathcliff and Heathcliff's enmity toward his son. Linton even says "... my father threatened me, and I dread him - I dread him!"(244) to express his feeling about Heathcliff. The hostility and separation between father and son in this book shows that uncaring parents can cause serious damage in relationships with their children. This element of destructive behavior may stem from an unhappy marriage in which the husbands or wives don't know each other. This had happened between Isabella and Heathcliff. Isabella did not really know Heathcliff when she married him, but after she had married him she saw that Heathcliff was not a gentleman at all. To declare her feelings she wrote "Is Heathcliff a man? If so, is he mad? And if not, is he a devil? I shan't tell my reasons for making this inquiry; but I beseech you to explain, if you can, what I have married ..."(125). Another example of this is when Catherine married Edgar Linton. Although she had been happy at the beginning of the marriag

e, she thought having parties all the time was going to be fun. Yet, after a while, she became bored. She also realized that she loved Heathcliff more than Edgar and would always love Heathcliff. This enlightenment created separation between Edgar and Catherine during the final hours of Cathy's life. An additional marriage which was made that was doomed was the one between Catherine and Linton. Because this was a forced marriage, Cathy had not yet learned all she could about Linton.Because she did not know until after the marriage that Linton was selfish and inconsiderate, she became distressed and grew isolated in the house. These three failed marriages described in this novel show that knowing the person you will marry is very important. While these marriages took place, jealousy also took a hold in some relationships. One example of this is when Mr. Earnshaw starts to favor Heathcliff over his own son, Hindley. Because of this, Hindley becomes jealous of young Heathcliff and sets out to make Heathcliff's life a nightmare. Hindley's jealousy becomes evident when he says ,"... be damned you beggarly interloper! and wheedle my father out of all he has; only afterwards show him what you are, imp of Satan."(35). Jealousy was also found very notably in the relationship between Heathcliff and Edgar Linton. The jealousy between them is expressed when Heathcliff and Edgar start a hostile conversation after Cathy's homecoming at Christmas near the beginning of the book. As the story progresses these two become bitter enemies who will not speak to one another. Another relationship which jealousy ruined is the one between Hareton and Linton. These two become jealous of each other over Cathy's affections. This relationship ends as Hareton and Linton hating each other. These relationships show that jealousy can ruin a relationship very quickly. Many people in the world are trying to find a perfect companion. Some of these may marry and not know what their new husband or wife is like. This kind of situation often leads to separation or hostility.
