The Analysis of Frankenstein’s Humanity

Mary Shelley, one of the most famous female writers in the science fiction, wrote her famous science fiction Frankenstein in 1818. She leaded the romantic period. As her master work, Frankenstein is always regarded as the pioneer of the science fiction.

Mary Shelley mainly told readers a story that Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a good people to help the human, but in fact, he created a monster who is ugly, so that Victor put him away. Because of the prejudice, the monster became a bad man and killed some people in order to revenge Victor. At the end of the novel, the monster regret what he has down, he chose to kill himself. It is a bad ending novel.

This paper will analysis the reasons which causes the bad ending. This paper pays more attention on the humanity that causes the bad ending. The first reason that causes the tragedy is the desire of Victor Frankenstein. From the fiction, the readers can see that although Victor wanted to make a perfect man that can benefit the human. In the fact, he only wanted to make a successful invention to make himself be famous all over the world. The result was not as good as he thought, he created a monster, so Victor abandoned the monster. When he faced his invention, he scared what he had done. What he made may destroy his career. At that time, the monster was just like a baby, he did not know anything. Victor did not teach him but put him away. From the explantation, the

paper analyses Victor’s desire is the ambition of being success and famous. So the Victor’s desire is the first reason that contributes to the bad ending.

The second reason that causes the tragedy is the people who was saved or helped by the monster. From the novel, the readers can see that at first, the monster was a good man. He helped the old man who was lonely; he saved the little girl who was drowning. However, the monster did not receive any gratitude, but the beat because of his appearance. Then the monster thought that no one would regard him as a good man, so he decided to revenge the Victor. From this reasons, he turned himself a good man to a bad man. So, the people’s attitude is the second reason that causes the bad ending.

The third reason that causes the tragedy is the loneliness. From the novel, we can see, even everyone in the world regarded him as a monster; he promised to the Victor that if Victor could create a peer for him, he would not hurt anyone. Victor refused his suggestion, and then the monster thinks that he was the only man who was so strange and ugly, he was very lonely. Then, he decided to revenge the Victor. So lonely is the third reason that causes the bad ending.

The fourth reason is that most people believed that everyone was good when he was born, which made him bad was the environment and the society he lived. People needed to treat the people around them kindly,

then they may help a person. From the novel, the readers can see that there are many situations that can make the monster a good man. If Victor did not abandon the monster, if the people who was saved or helped by monster treated him kindly, the monster would be a good one.

There are many reasons that make the monster from innocent to evil. If the readers read the novel carefully, they can find that the monster is not really so bad. At first, he saved the drowning girl, took care of the old man. At the end of the novel, he regret what he had down, and killed himself. The writer thinks that there are many reasons which result in the tragedy, such as Victor, the people who monster meets, the society and the monster himself. In fact, people had many chances to change the result, but they didn’t. They were scared of him and fighting to him. In this situation, the monster still did not hurt them. If one of them could take care of the monster, he wouldn’t kill Victor’s friend and relatives. In this thesis, the writer summaries these reasons that contribute to the tragedy, it is Victor’s desire, people’s attitude, the loneliness and the society.

Frankenstein was a good scientist. He wanted to use elestricity to help people, and he wanted to discover the secrets of life.He worked very hard on these two things. He wanted to create a new life, but he was not allowed to make such medical experiments. He made a body in his laboratory and he did not let anybody enter his labtatory or his flat while he was doing this awful work.He bought or stole all the pieces of human body that he needed, and slowly and carefully, he put them all together. He used electricity from lighting to give life to the body. In the beginning, the monster was kind and helpful. But when he was hated everywhere by his creator and people,he felt very painful. He became hated everything and wanted to destroy everything. He killed Frankenstein's son, William and fiancee ,Elizabeth.Frankenstein filled with anger chase him with his creation demonic monster, finally, Frankenstein and the monster in the fight they died.

It is a very terrible story. Frankenstein created a monster, in this society in which the subject of ridicule, discrimination, so that he eventually became hate everything, trying to ruin everything. This is not just to create a simple person, but to create a Satan, a devil. If people all show kindness for the monster, it would be a good man. There would not be many people losing their lives. In the story, the monster asked Frankenstein to make a second creature. But

at last, frankenstein did not.I think he is right. If he does that, there may be more people to be dead.Maybe in the future, there will be no person on Earth. It is awful.

From the story,I learned that everyone should have sympathy. Do not only care about appearance.

Frankenstein

The novel Frankenstein, which was written by Mary Shelley, is about a creature produced by ascientist. Shelley started writing the story when she was 19. At the age of 21, this book was published. The first edition was published anonymously in London in 1818. When I saw the cover picture of this book, I felt a little fearful, but I still looked forward to reading it.

The novel began with explorer Robert Walton traveling to the Pole. He found a man frozen in a block of ice on the way. The man, Victor Frankenstein, told the crew his life story. He had a happy childhood, and he was crazy about natural philosophy and chemistry and basically tried to play God by creating life. When he found the secret of activating dead flesh, he created a monster. Although it was all made by good materials, but it became something ugly. Then he found the monster missing. When the monster was born, he loved the world very much. He hid in the mountains and learned to use fire. But because of his appearance, he became disgusting in everyone’s eyes. When he knew that his only master abandoned him, he was so disappointed to this world that he began to kill his master’s family one by one. Victor finally found the monster. The monster told Victor his experience, and demanded of Frankenstein a female mate who he can be with until his end, and promised to live away from society. Victor made the second monster, but quickly destroyed it. As return for him breaking the promise, the monster killed Elizabeth on the wedding night of Victor and her. From then on, he chased after the monster, and finally he was discovered by the crew on Robert’s ship. There victor ended his story, and died in front of the men. That same night, the monster entered the room where victor laid dead. Finally, the monster scampered into the ice fields.

It is a very terrible story. Here are the reasons why causes the bad ending.

From the explantation, the paper analyses Victor’s desire is the ambition of being success and famous.

People needed to treat the people around them kindly, then they may help a person.

Everyone has two sides. One side is good, while another is evil. If a person is hated, discriminated against and persecuted for a long time, he will become evil and do something wrong, or even worse. For example, after being treated so badly and unfairly, the monster who is told in the novel kills many people for revenge. From what have been mentioned above, I have an opinion that we’d better do what we can to be kind to other people, which is beneficial to all of us.

成琳(A)
